About the Role:
We are a publicly traded global technology and manufacturing company looking for a results-driven Director of Operations to lead our automated robotic equipment business in Houston, Texas. This role has been critical to establishing a world-class manufacturing presence in the U.S. and will serve as the primary liaison between our U.S. team and our global headquarters in Asia.
The ideal candidate will bring deep leadership experience in managing automation, automated robotic equipment tuning and customer delivery, total plant operations in the areas of electronics or precision mechanics, with a proven track record in operational excellence, team building, and strategy execution.
Key Roles:
As the head of the Automated Robotic Equipment business in Houston, he is responsible for the overall performance, efficiency, and compliance of the automated robotic equipment business and management.
Acts as a strategic operational interface between corporate headquarters and U.S. manufacturing execution.
Lead and empower cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, quality, procurement, logistics, and EHS.
Build a culture of security-first, data-driven, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Represent U.S. manufacturing at executive level discussions, audits, and customer engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement an operational strategy and annual budget for the automated robotic equipment business in the U.S. in accordance with the company's goals.
Drive production planning, capacity optimization, quality control, cost management, and on-time delivery performance.
Lead initiatives in automation integration, lean manufacturing, and digital transformation (e.g., MES, ERP, IoT).
Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. federal and state laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, labor laws).
Recruit, train and develop local talent to build a high-performing team with strong technical and managerial capabilities.
Manage cross-functional initiatives, including new product introductions (NPIs), equipment ramp-ups, and facility expansions.
Conduct regular performance reviews and submit KPIs, risk assessments, and improvement plans to senior leadership.
Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure world-class manufacturing standards and responsiveness.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, manufacturing, industrial management, or related field.
Minimum of eight years of experience in manufacturing operations, including five years of factory or senior leadership experience, preferably in an automation or high-tech industry.
Has experience in automated robot equipment tuning, customer delivery, etc., and is familiar with the whole process of physical factory operation (including production, engineering, quality, EHS and logistics).
In-depth understanding of U.S. industrial regulations and compliance standards.
Hands-on knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and other operational excellence methodologies.
Excellent leadership, communication and strategy.
Experience with ERP and MES systems; familiarity with smart factory technologies is a plus.
Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin is a strong plus but not required.
Must be a U.S. Green Card holder or U.S. citizen.
